I live and create on the land of the Darkinjung people at Copacabana in Australia. I create textile paintings and sketches made from a rich palette of my hand-dyed fabrics complemented by extensive, textural stitching demonstrating the transformative power of stitch. Abstraction is a persistent and insistent force. Working improvisationally, I capture the essence of my subjects to impart a sense of wonder of the natural world and a strong affinity to place. My teaching focus is on freeform piecing, effective design and the use of colour – to promote fun and encourage creative momentum. My presentations and workshops draw upon my experience and insights as an artist, curator, judge, quilt judging educator, writer and mentor. I am excited at how technology enables us to effectively share our creative spaces and work side-by-side no matter where we are in the world and what timezone we are in. I look forward to sharing with you in Quilt Camp Summer 2024.

My Workshop

In this workshop I will share free-form piecing techniques for a versatile bead motif that can be incorporated into your own personal designs. I will be talking about colour, construction and composition with a view to confidence-building and creative momentum. In addition to showing strings of beads against a common background, I will demonstrate how to create a multi-coloured background.
