I am a lifelong maker who has always been interested in a variety of needle crafts, especially sewing, quilting and embroidery. In 2009, I had the opportunity to move to Korea, where I had the opportunity to learn traditional Korean sewing and pojagi and add these to my favourite techniques. Those traditional hand sewing techniques inspired me to make window hangings with reversible patchwork. In the sun, they look like stained glass.

My philosophy is that beautiful things should be made and used everyday to bring joy into our lives. My home workshop, Epida Studio, is in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, but I teach at guilds, quilt shops and online via Zoom. I love to show others new techniques and inspire them to make beautiful things.

My Workshop

In this workshop, I will teach you how to make a patchwork window hanging with batik fabric and reversible patchwork seams. There is no black fabric, no lining and no raw edges are exposed. In the sunlight, the piece looks like stained glass.The magical effect comes from the simple seam technique. Two size options make it easy to personalize it to the size of your window. The small version is around 11” square and the large version is around 20” square.
