Hello, I'm Céleste Compion (she/her).

The play with pattern, color, and math is what drew me to quilting in the first place, but my first love will always remain hand stitching, because it is so absorbing and relaxing.
Born in Cape Town to a family of makers, I have been quilting since 1985 and teaching quilting since 1999. In 2001, I moved to Canada with my family to live in what I like to call “Quiltopia” in the heart of Mennonite country.
In 2013 I started importing and distributing Three Cats Shweshwe from South Africa to North America. Shweshwe, called the tartan of South Africa, is a heritage fabric with a fascinating social justice story, which I share in my presentation "The Bolt and the Beautiful: The Shweshwe Saga”. I have two other presentations exploring more themes dear to the heart of quilters and I teach several classes.
My Workshop
Join the slow stitching movement in this 30 minute workshop by learning to stitch coasters by hand with Japanese Folded Patchwork. Use up scraps of fabric and batting to make hexagon coasters, from templates.
Making your own templates is part of the lesson too.
