Hi, I’m Leila Gardunia! I’m a biologist by training, a mom, and a quilter. My favorite parts of quilting are planning and picking out fabric. I love designing scrappy quilts and simple foundation paper-pieced patterns that quilters can be creative with. When I'm not cutting up fabric and sewing it back together, you'll find me listening to audiobooks while cleaning and trying to convince my five kids and husband that we really don't need to get a dog (they are wearing me down!).

My Workshop

Want to mix up your quilting style? In Modern Traditionalism, traditional blocks are used as inspiration for quilts with a modern esthetic. In this class, I will take different traditional quilt blocks and show how you can play with color, scale, alternate girds, minimalism, and more to achieve a modern look. Seeing the step-by-step design process will help you have the skills and confidence to design your own modern quilt.
